Jeremy Sycip built this custom MTB frame for Matthias, which will also be one of his show bikes ant NAHBS. Check out all of his sweet stuff at http://www.sycip.com. Jeremy has become somewhat infamous for the segmented rear end capped with either pennies or nickels. A nice touch when added to the uber-pimp Sycip stainless dropouts.

Matthias wanted the front to match a Fox fork, but wanted the rear black, and to work in some XTR-ish grey as well as orange.

These are the aforementioned stays and dropouts.

This is the "base color(s)". After a little sanding, we can create the panels to make the color transition.

After sanding the rough transition, we can mask for the panels. We decided to add a seat tube panel to Matthias' original layout to make the front end look more balanced.

Now that the panel base color is down, we can start the highlighting of the edge.

Now that the panel work is finished, we can start the logo work tomorrow, and then the clear.

For those of you who don't know the Sycip brothers, they have been doing their thing just about as long as any other custom builder out there. Jeremy and Jay have been close friends of ours for years.....and these guys have mad creative skills. From their use of wheat penny's as seat stay caps to their new kick ass drop outs, leave it to these guy's to make you look twice. Jay is now with Chris King in Portland and Jeremy is running Sycip all by himself now.

This color combo is really nice, I think the customer will be very happy. Nice work JT.

One of my all time favorite Sycip designs

Thanks.

Here are some images of it all ready to go.

The Sycip brothers do have some SWEET ideas. My favorite was the fixie with the disc brake mounted to the left crank arm. Stylish and functionable.

Anyway, . . .
